testing enstops and travel distance

i have everything working setup and working now and am on step 7 of quick start guide. when i type "G28 X" to test endstop it sends the print head crashing into the left side then starts moving toward the front left corner and crashes into the corner and continues to to try and drive the printhead beyond the physical realm of the printer. any ideas on what i have messed up? I have gone through the settings a few times and i can't seem to find what i have missed.

ok... never mind please... i got it figured out... machine is working in all directions and homes with no issues
now i just need to figure out the hotend issue

Unfortunately in my excitement and haste to get this awesome printer up and running I did not realize that there was a step missing in Andrew's tutorial... Doh! embarrassingly... I did not add the endstop
