At the weekend, the 30mm fan on my E3D failed. Fortunately I had a spare one, but it turned out to be a devil of a job to get the hot end out. I simply couldn't get it far enough out of the A4 piece to get it loose. In the end I was able to tilt it enough to get a screwdriver in to remove the old fan and attach a new one, but it was not a very convenient or satisfactory way of doing it. Any tips for removing the hot end, maybe from people who've done a rebuilt (e.g. for the Titan extruder)?

Best way to remove the hotend is a bit of a pain, but there weren't many alternatives to get the tip of the hot end as close to the linear bushings as I wanted. First remove the front radial fan. Then you have to remove all the screws going through the extruder to the extruder stepper, then the single vertical bolt holding the extruder body to the extruder carriage, then you should be able to slide the whole extruder assembly up in order to pull the two halves apart and separate the hot end. It is a bit clumsy at first, but after doing it once or twice it should make a lot more sense. I've had to do this dozens of times and now it only takes me a minute or two to do it!
