The buildtak surface at buildtak is like $16 (with shipping) or $28 for 3. Is it worth buying?
3dprintedlife's video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb1ZfJCRg1U) is talking about the heated bed and running it at 60 degrees. Theres also a much earlier video talkign about the buildtak surface and how awesome it is.
I don't have enough information to understand of the second video after the first, and I can't quite tell if he's printed directly on the heated bed or if he's still using a buildtak surface?

Yes I'd say it is well worth it to get 3, they will likely last for the life of your printer and it will save you countless hours replacing painters tape and lots of frustration from warping prints. I use BuildTak with a heated bed at 50-60*C and I never have a problem with adhesion. As BuildTak wears down it becomes less sticky, but a quick rough up with a wire brush then cleaning it with some isopropyl alcohol and it works good as new. So of course it isn't necessary, but in the long run you will end up spending about the same on painters tape (if you print a lot) so I would definitely recommend the investment.

I find the buildtak suface to work well with PLA. It sometimes sticks too well and it is easy to damage the surface or print when prying it off. I don't see it lasting all that long given the damage I already see. If you want to save money use glass and hairspray or glue stick. Regular window glass from the hardware store will work fine. I have my glass clipped to the bed with binder clips.
