first time 3d printing,Makerbot settings for printing parts?

Any suggestions for makerbot desktop printer settings?

I am planning on using quick custom settings

.2mm with 50% infill
Raft on, support on
extruder temp 230c

but I don't know what to set for the "Number of shells"?  Currently 2, I was thinking of setting it to 10 but this starts to look a lot like 100% infill judging by the grams of filament used.  

Any other settings I should modify?

2 to 3 shells should suffice. and the other setting should be a o k.

I just got my parts back from the university.  I did end up using 3 shells and they look fine.  No idea how they will perform, but probably adequately.
