And so it begins with me. Finished my small village of printer parts. Excited to see how this blends in with the casing. Went with natural PETG. Translucent much?

Thankfully barely any cleanup afterwards. Besides the support removal. Just a random stringing here and there.

Carlos,
Have you had a chance to insert the bearings into the X Gantry Main? I printed out three of these parts and have yet to press fit the bearing into the part with success. Seems like one side works smoothly and the other binds. Not necessarily the same side that binds. I'm pressing them in with the rod in place as suggested. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Librav You may need to clean out the holes a bit with a sharp knife so the bushings go in properly. Depends a lot on the quality of the printer used to make the parts. It's definitely tough making a design that will work well on all printers so you may need to do a bit of manual work to make it slide smoothly in your situation!

I haven't tried yet. But as 3DprintedLife mentioned, quality will differ with the printed parts. I'm in the middle of getting through some halloween prints before I jump back into handling the eclipse.

I printed all my parts using a Printrbot Simple Metal. I corrected my binding issue by applying a small amount of automotive rubbing compound on a spare 10 mm hardened rod and running the X Gantry back and forth by hand about 8 or 10 times. I then withdrew the gantry, cleaned the rod and bearing and tested the results. I had to repeat this process 3 times to get the binding side equal to the unbinding side.

Finally starting putting everything together. Seems I'm running into this issue now, for both the X and Y. Reprinting these pieces and hopefully the holes should be a little bigger, otherwise might need to shave it down a bit. I'm assuming everything should slide smoothly with little effort. Which is not the case right now.
